The positives of social networking is that it is quick and easy to keep up to date with what is going on in your friends lives and also your friends can keep up to date as to what is going on in your life. social networking sites include Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Bebo and more. It allows you to follow your favourite celebrities and see what they are up to.
The negatives of social networking is that a lot of people find it difficult to start with, for a lot of the older generation can struggle with developing the skills to use social networking sites as they have not been brought up with this advanced technology. Where as the younger generation have been brought up with technology and have developed skills using social networking sites, mobile phones and applications. What is in store for future generations? Already south Korea is the most technologically advanced county in the world, with children as young as three years old using computers and logging onto social networking sites. This has led to children as young as eight years old developing an addiction for using social networking sites, spending up to eighteen hours a day on their computers. It is shocking to know that these children have to endure counselling sessions to help their addictions. If they don't log onto social networking sites they can start to feel anxious and feel withdrawn from their friends as they cannot keep updated with what is happening in their lives. This has been caused by sites such as facebook. It is also appualing to know that if facebook were a country it would be the third largest country in the world, just behind Russia and China.
Social networking can affect the relationships between people as if people think they have lost touch with them through these networking sites they can feel that their friendship is disappearing. Also it can have the reverse affects where a person could spend all their time on social networking sites and avoid all contact with friends and become isolated from the real world, Leaving them trapped in an endless cycle of spending up to eighteen hours a day logging onto the computer.

EMedia
In todays lesson I learnt how to add someone on my blog by using the blog list tool. I also learnt about RSS ( Really simple syndication) which is a web feed format used to publish frequently updated work and how to customize and change the design of my blog. A collection of web feeds all in one spot is formally known as an aggregation, performed by an aggregator. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_feed.
Also I have learnt what BCC AND CC means. BCC ( blind carbon copy) is when you send an email to multiple email addresses, but they cannot see that you have sent that email to other email addresses. CC (Carbon Copy) is when you send an email to to multiple email addresses and the recipient can see that the email has been sent to other email addresses.
digital communication is a transfer of data over a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint communication channel. examples are copper wires, optic fibers and wireless communication channels and storage media. this is represented through a electro-magnetic signal, such as electrical voltage, radio wave, microwave or infra-red signals.

My first blog
Hi my name is Melissa and I currently attend the City of Bath College studying Media. As you can tell by the title name this is my first ever blog!
I think a blog is a journal that you keep and can be shared via the internet. A blog is a way of sharing your views on anything that is happening in your life, around the world or a way of expressing your thoughts and feelings.
To embed a youtube clip you select the desired clip and below the clip there will be a button which say embed. Click on embed then copy the URL and paste it into the blog and make sure it is set on edit HTML.
